The Power Nap
Some ideas seem so outrageous, so unnecessary, so clearly “having a laugh”…
that they circle all the way back around to being genius.
Introducing: The Power Nap.
Yes, we’re now letting you add 20 minutes of intentional nothingness to your facial.
And here’s the twist:
It started as a laugh on our instagram… talking about how aazing it would be, after your facial, to just turn off the lights and let you have a little nap… and suddenly it got real and now we’re absolutely not joking at all.
Let me explain.
You know that feeling where you say “I’m fine” while your left eye twitches and your soul quietly lies face-down on the floor?
Your nervous system knows the truth.
Most of us live in a constant drip-feed of micro-stress:
All of this pushes you into a perpetual fight-or-flight mode, great for outrunning tigers, terrible for skin.
When our nervous system is pumped full of adrenaline and cortisol, our skin:
It simply can’t thrive when we’re white-knuckling our way through life.
This is where intentional rest comes in, and why we stopped pretending facials are just about serums.
The unsexy truth?
Skin heals fastest when you’re in parasympathetic mode, the “rest and repair” side of your nervous system.
And how do you get into rest-and-repair?
Not by scrolling
Not by doom-thinking
Not by forcing yourself to “relax harder”
But by actually switching off.
Enter:
Dim lights
Quiet room
Somatic soundscapes
No talking
No expectations
You drift into that delicious state where your body thinks, “Oh thank God. She’s finally stopped.”
This is where:
Half-asleep is basically a biological, skin loving cheat code.
And we know exactly how ridiculous that sounds.
BUT we also know what happens when you lie down in a calm, safe room with zero responsibilities, no decisions, and no one needing anything from you for 20 whole minutes:
Your brain unspools.
Your breath drops.
Your nervous system exhales.
Your skin gets the memo that it’s safe to repair.
It’s less “luxury beauty treatment” and more:
If your skin therapist could prescribe a pause button.
Once you’ve floated in that not-awake-not-asleep dream state, it’s impossible to deny how much your body needed it.
And yes, we will wake you with a grounding scalp massage and a metaphorical kiss on the forehead, because re-entry into the world should be gentle.
Here’s your permission slip, wrapped in physiology:
1. Parasympathetic activation
Deep rest lowers heart rate + calms the vagus nerve → your skin shifts into repair mode.
2. Cortisol reduction
Cortisol is inflammatory and barrier-disruptive. A nap naturally reduces levels.
3. Increased cellular turnover
Sleep and semi-sleep states activate the glymphatic system, your brain’s “rinse cycle” for clearing waste. Better function = better skin communication.
4. Better barrier repair
When your body isn’t defending itself against “life,” it can focus on rebuilding your skin barrier lipids.
5. Improved microcirculation
Rest increases oxygen delivery, which supports healing, colour, and glow.
Translation:
A calmer you = a calmer skin.
If you’re exhausted, overstimulated, overwhelmed or “functioning on vibes”…
THIS is your facial upgrade.
Is The Power Nap a little absurd?
Of course it is. (We questioned ourselves long and hard before offering it!)
Is it also one of the most skin-supportive, nervous-system-respecting, modern-life-appropriate upgrades we could possibly offer?
Absolutely.
Sometimes the thing you need most isn’t more effort.
It’s a place to fall apart a little, quietly, gently, safely, and put yourself back together again.
Come lie down.
We’ll hold the space.
You can stop being “fine” for 20 minutes.
